What We Do

Training

Since 2013, we have trained over 1,300 healthcare providers, law enforcement officers, and community workers to better respond to GBV. These training sessions equip participants with the necessary skills to support survivors with compassion and professionalism. Our center employs a two-pronged strategy: prioritizing survivor-centered care and equipping first responders with the tools to handle GBV effectively. Survivors receive comprehensive support, including a safe haven, trauma-informed counseling, therapeutic care, and legal advice. Simultaneously, we enhance the capabilities of judges, social workers, law enforcement, and healthcare professionals.
Key topics include referral routes, legal processes, trauma-informed care, and sensitive communication. This integrated approach strengthens the overall response system, ensuring survivors receive thoughtful and effective treatment, paving the way for a future free from GBV.

This training leads to:

Police Equipped

Officers gain skills in sensitive GBV investigation, evidence collection, and survivor support, building trust and improving case outcomes.

Empowered Chiefs

Local leaders are now equipped to identify and address GBV within their communities, offering immediate support and connecting survivors to essential resources.

Paralegals Ready

With legal knowledge and referral pathways, paralegals offer vital guidance, ensuring survivors navigate the legal system effectively.

Our commitment to empowering first responders extends beyond our center walls. Through partnerships with Kiganjo Police Training Institute and County Gender Offices, we have reached essential stakeholders directly at the source. Additionally, collaboration with the Kenya School of Law has provided crucial training to police officers, chiefs, and paralegals.
By arming a diverse network of professionals with knowledge and skills, we promote a safer and better-informed Nairobi. We aim to expand our training programs and partnerships to strengthen GBV interventions at every level in the future.
